Study on development of LQF

Academic Information Centre - Latvian NCP prepared an assessment of LQF development from 2011 to 2016. 

The aim of the study was to analyse the development of LQF and its contribution to changes in the Latvian education.

The study highlighted a number of changes in education - the development of terminology, indication of LQF / EQF levels in diplomas and certificates, involving of social partners in the development of LQF, a project on work based learning implemented by the Employers’ Confederation of Latvia, as well as the development of ECVET and ECTS credit point systems in Latvia.

The study looks at the process of establishing a sectoral qualifications structure; analyses the importance of learning outcomes in Latvian education system; deals with recognition of non-formal learning; analyses the system of quality assessment in general, vocational and higher education, and highlights changes since 2012. The study deals with the laws and regulations governing LQF / EQF, describes the most important activities of the Latvian NCP in this period and outlines possible future activities for further development of LQF.
